About us
Who we are, what we believe and what we do.
There is no single way of defining the typical "Williams Memorial" person! We are people who live in and around Llandovery, having come originally from a wide variety of places and backgrounds.
What defines us is that we are all followers of Jesus - Christians. We've all realised that Jesus is the most important thing in our lives, and this realisation impacts everything else that we do , from day to day.
We have a set of core beliefs, which you can read about here. If you'd like to know more about what we believe and why, we'd be more than happy to look at this in more detail with you - please get in touch!

Core beliefs
About God
There is one true and living God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal in divinity, power, and glory.
God is sovereign over all things — in creation, revelation, salvation, and final judgment. He rules with justice, holiness, wisdom, and love.
About the Bible
The Bible, as originally given, is the inspired, trustworthy, and infallible Word of God. It stands as the final and supreme authority in all matters of belief, life, and practice.
About Humanity
All people have been created in the image of God, but since the fall, humanity is universally sinful and morally guilty. Every person is therefore under God’s just judgment and in need of salvation.
About Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Truly God and truly man, He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died in our place on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, and now reigns in power over all things.
About Salvation
We are rescued from sin, death, and judgment only through the once-for-all sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, who acted as our substitute, atonement and mediator.
All who put their faith in Jesus are freely forgiven, fully accepted by God, and declared righteous in His sight—not because of anything they have done, but solely because of what Christ has done for them. This is the gift of grace, received through faith alone.
About the Holy Spirit
It is the Holy Spirit who applies the work of Christ to individual lives. He convicts of sin, brings people to repentance and faith, and enables them to trust and follow Jesus.
The Holy Spirit dwells in every true believer, transforming them to become more like Christ and empowering them to live for Him and bear witness in the world.
About the Church
The Church is the worldwide community of all who truly belong to Jesus. It is His Body and His Bride, made up of believers from every nation and generation. As a local church, we are called to gather for worship, grow in faith, love one another, and share the good news of Jesus.
About the Future
Jesus Christ will one day return in person to bring history to its fulfilment. He will judge the living and the dead, bringing eternal condemnation to those who have rejected Him and eternal joy and glory to those who are His.
About our Mission
Though the church is made up of flawed and imperfect people who have been saved by grace, it remains a vessel through which the mission of Christ is lived out in the world. Despite our shortcomings, we strive to embody His love, grace, and truth in our relationships and communities. Jesus said, “By this shall all people know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). It is not through perfection, but through our commitment to love—sacrificial, forgiving, and enduring—that we reflect His presence. In our worship, service, and fellowship, the church points beyond itself to the redeeming work of Christ, offering hope and belonging in a broken world.
What we do
The highlight of the week for us is the Sunday service, when we get together to praise God, learn more about him, pray and encourage one another. But the Church is not just for Sundays, and not just for people inside the walls of the building, so we meet on other days too, and are actively involved in the community in various ways.
